Board Member Biography

Peter Holland

Peter Holland
Chair

Peter has a significant track record of achievement in the commercial and public sector. A journalist by profession, he was at Reuters for 23 years, starting out as a financial journalist and moving through various roles, including senior management positions for the Reuters Group. He is a board member and trustee of St John's Ambulance and chair of its Audit Committee. He is the current chair of the National Policing improvement Agency (NPIA). His position as Chair of Firebuy is a four year appointment until December 2013. His remuneration is £600 a day for a maximum commitment of eight days a month. He also holds a three year Ministerial appointment as Chair for the NPIA (Home Office), which has been extended until 2010, for which he receives remuneration of £72,000 per annum.
   
Chris Hetherington
Director
Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with considerable international, commercial and board experience with global utility providers. This has included financial and corporate management of high revenue businesses. He is currently a private consultant having previously been an executive director of Cable & Wireless International and the Chief Executive of its Americas & Caribbean businesses. His is a three year appointment to December 2012. He holds no other Ministerial appointments.
   

Robert Light

Robert Light
Director

A director on the first Firebuy board, Robert has a strong track record of public service. He brings considerable experience of working with the Fire and Rescue Service. He is a non-executive director of the Environment Agency, a former leader of Kirklees Council and former chair of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. He is appointed for four years to December 2013. He also holds a three year appointment as a board member for the Environment Agency (DEFRA) for which he receives remuneration of £16,800 per annum.
   
Jane Moorhouse
Director
Jane is an experienced public and private sector procurement professional who has a track record in driving through business transformation. Jane was the managed service director for OGC Buying Solutions from 2004 - 2006 and was seconded 2006 - 2008 to the Office of Government Commerce to support the collaborative procurement agenda. She is currently a strategic advisor to Camelot. She is appointed for three years to December 2012. She holds no other Ministerial appointments.
   
Sir Peter Spencer
Director
Following a distinguished Naval career Sir Peter became the chief executive of the Defence Procurement Agency and chief of Defence Procurement from 2003 to 2007. He is currently chief executive of Action for ME and is a non-executive director of a NHS Foundation Trust. Sir Peter has a strong background in public sector procurement and a track record in policy formation and corporate governance. He is appointed for four years to December 2013. He holds no other Ministerial appointments.
   
  In addition to the five independent board members whose appointments are announced today, it is also proposed that the board has three members representing stakeholder groups. These appointments are planned to be made by the end of March 2010.

 

Observers

In addition two observers will attend board meetings a representative of the Communities & Local Government (CLG) and Terry Brewer the Chief Executive of Firebuy.
